User Privacy & Conditions of Use

The Kansas Insurance Department is dedicated to protecting your privacy online. Neither the Kansas Insurance Department nor Kansas.gov, which hosts some of our Internet services, collects extended cookies from users. Session cookies may be used during a session to maintain session continuity; however, no user information is gathered through cookies except for that needed to run an application. Cookies are not used for the purpose of storing or tracking information on any user.

Logs may be kept of IP addresses of users accessing our systems for statistical purposes and to help us provide you with better service. Where users must log in with a user ID and password to our extranet site, user registration information is maintained for the explicit purpose of providing the service of that extranet application. Where users must provide identifying information to access other services, the department intends the use of that information only for providing those services. No marketing databases are created, and information is not intended for any commercial use. The department will not contact you except as is reasonable in providing the service you have requested and in monitoring such service.

As a state agency, the department is bound by the Kansas Open Records Act, K.S.A. 45-215, et seq., and amendments thereto. This and other laws shall govern information provided through this site, use of that information and any information maintained concerning use of this site. No statement made here shall be interpreted in conflict with any applicable law.

Information publicly accessible through this site or available from this site through a Kansas.gov subscription shall be considered an open public record. State law prohibits use of this information “for the purpose of selling or offering for sale any property or service to persons listed therein…” unless the use is specifically authorized by law. K.S.A. 45-230.

In accessing this information you are acknowledging that you do not intend to, and will not: “(A) Use any list of names or addresses contained in or derived from the records or information for the purpose of selling or offering for sale any property or service to any person listed or to any person who resides at any address listed; or (B) sell, give or otherwise make available to any person any list of names or addresses contained in or derived from the records or information for the purpose of allowing that person to sell or offer for sale any property or service to any person listed or to any person who resides at any address listed” unless specifically authorized by law. K.S.A. 45-220(c).

Our extranet site, accessible only through restrictive company or producer login and password, may contain information which is permitted or required to be closed by state or federal law. Such information is only made available through a server which is verifiable by a widely-trusted certificate and through use of an encrypted browser session.
