K.A.R. 40-2-20. Life insurance; accelerated benefits;
requirements and restrictions. This proposed regulation defines terms as they relate
to accelerated benefits. It sets out
requirements that insurance companies shall include in life insurance contracts
that offer accelerated benefits. It also
sets out requirements that insurers must follow when an accelerated benefit
option is exercised by consumers.
Provisions are also included for waiver of premiums, permissible ways
that accelerated benefits shall be funded, and restrictions on payable
accelerated benefits.
This proposed regulation
removes the definition of “qualifying event” and updates the history of the
regulation. The remaining changes are
technical only.
There will be little or
no economic impact upon insurance companies, the Kansas Insurance Department,
other governmental agencies, or consumers.
Any
