Senate Bill 35, Section 8, establishes a 6 mph buffer for convictions for violating a maximum posted speed limit of 30 mph through 54 mph. This means that a speeding violation up to 6 mph that occurs in these speed zones cannot be used by an insurance company to determine the rate charged or be used to cancel a policy in accordance with Kansas Statutes Annotated (“K.S.A.”) 40-277(4)(c)(7).
